Tom Taylor, 75, died unexpectedly Friday, April 25, 2014, in Fort Worth.
Memorial services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Granbury on April 29, 2014.
Tom was born in Commerce, Texas in 1938, and he graduated from Weatherford High School in 1957. He then received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education Degrees from North Texas State University. The highlights of Tom’s teaching, coaching, and administrative career came at both Cedar Hill ISD and Granbury ISD.
Tom’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, golfing, and watching all types of spectator sports. He also enjoyed playing poker and camping with his family and friends. Tom and his wife, Marilynn, loved taking road trips to the northwest and spending time with their relatives. It was also important to Tom to stay in touch with lifelong friends as was evident in his two weekly breakfast group meetings. Tom was an active member at the First United Methodist Church of Granbury and was the favorite scriptural reader in his Sunday school class. He enjoyed listening to country music and watching old western movies on TV. Tom will be remembered as a great story teller and he always had the perfect story for every occasion.
Tom is survived by his wife, Marilynn; sons, Dugan and his wife, Shawnnie, Richard and his wife, Kim, and Matt, born to Mabren Montgomery; stepchildren Holly, Natalie and her husband, John, Harlie and his wife, Sydra; grandchildren, Taylor and his wife, Arryn, Garrett, Clint, Keegan, Haley, Kolby, Hayden, Sadie, Brianna, Macie, and great-granddaughter Ava.
Tom was preceded in death by son-in-law, Tim Patterson and granddaughter, Tara.
