ALEDO — Josephine Marie Ondra King, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, died Sunday, May 4, 2014.
Service: 10 a.m. Friday at Aledo Church of Christ, 201 S FM 1187, Aledo, 76008. Interment: Annetta Cemetery.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Josephine was born in Weatherford and spent her entire life in the area. She met and married her sweetheart, Richard King, in 1954 and they were blessed with four children: Sheri, Gary, Larry and Melinda. Larry preceded her in death in 1960. She would have celebrated her 80th birthday and 60th wedding anniversary this year.
Josephine was a consummate homemaker and mother her entire life, only working short stints outside the home. She loved to travel, was an avid reader and enjoyed her flowers. She was a very active member of the Aledo Church of Christ for 55 years, sharing her gifts in children’s bible classes, the hospital gown ministry, church history scrapbooking, and organizing dinners for the sick and bereavement ministry. She was a true servant of God. Her loving, compassionate and giving ways were a wonderful inspiration to others. Our saint here on Earth will live on in our memories.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Rosa Ondra; sisters, Janie Wyatt, Alyne Wingo, Margaret Adams, Rosalie Reynolds and Eloise Barber.
Josephine is survived by her husband, Richard King; children, Sheri Messer and husband Ken, Gary King and wife, Jeannie, and Melinda Roberts and husband, Rob; grandchildren, Ryan King, Andrew King, Jake King, Cheyenne King, Austin Roberts and wife, Shauna, and Ethan Roberts; and brother, Augusta Ondra.
“She was full of good works and acts of charity.” -Acts 9:36
