— Vernor Keith Lewis Sr., 87, of Weatherford, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, in a Fort Worth hospital. 

A private graveside ceremony will be held at Johnson Cemetery at a later date. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Vernor was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Decatur, Miss., to Lonnie Mae and Alfred Johnny Lewis.

Mr. Lewis served in the U.S. Army, 554th Signal Air Warning Battalion. He earned two medals – the World War II Victory Medal and the ATO Medal. He was a homebuilder and home mover in Florida and was a member of the Home Builders Association and Lions Club. Vernor attended Pentecostals of Parker County with his daughter, Sandra.

Survivors include his daughters, Wanda Keith Parsons and Sandra Keith Quidley; granddaughters, Alisa Parsons and husband, J.W., and Elizabeth Keith Quidley; and great-grandchildren, Jarret Wesley Parsons and Kayla Marie Parsons.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Johnson Lewis; daughter, Teresa Keith Lewis; son, Vernor Keith Lewis Jr.; great-grandson, Joshua Wayne Parsons; and brother, Carlee “Mac” Lewis.
