David Sidney Pickard

Weatherford Democrat

— David Sidney Pickard, 72, died Nov. 12, 2013, in a Fort Worth hospital.

Graveside service is 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in the Spring Creek Cemetery, which is south of Weatherford on State Highway 51. Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. A few days after the graveside service, a memorial service for David will be held at Calvary Cathedral in Fort Worth, where those who knew him will honor him, and rightly so, for David’s life was a life well-lived. He is now home with his Lord.

Born Jan. 17, 1941, he was a Fort Worth firefighter for 28 years. After he retired in 1995, he put all his strength into his tractor work business, Pickard Tractor Service. For many years he corrected drainage problems for local homeowners and built gravel driveways, which never failed to please them. A veteran of the U.S. Army, David served in the early 1960s. A committed churchgoer, he attended Calvary Cathedral International in Fort Worth regularly. He loved to fish, but didn’t much, for he preferred to spend time with his family when not working.

David’s survivors are his wife of 49 years, Barbara Pickard; his two daughters, Julie Robinson and Laura Mahoney; his son-in-law, Richie Mahoney; and his two fine grandsons, Jacob Robinson and Richard David Mahoney.
