Mildred (Rayleen) Wiggins Smyrl, 82, of Weatherford, died Sunday morning, Jan. 26, 2014, at Holland Lake Nursing Center.
Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, in the Galbreaith-Pickard Chapel with interment in East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home. Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Rayleen was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Fort Worth. In addition to being a wonderful mother, wife and grandmother, she was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. She attended Millsap schools and was a retired nurse for Dr. Joe T. Nelson.
Rayleen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Robert Smyrl; her parents, Deedie Ray and Willie Mae Wiggins; and a son, Robert Jr.
Survivors include a son, Danny Smyrl and wife, Kathie, of Weatherford; daughter, Debra Armstrong and husband, Brad, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Lindsay Smyrl, Jerod Smyrl, Doug Dowd and wife Kristy, and Melissa and Jeremy Teague; great-grandchldren, Aidan Smyrl and Kaden, Isaiah and Emma Dowd; sisters, Karen Hunter and Barbara Parker; brother, Donald Wiggins; many loving nieces and nephews; and a faithful and loving group of friends and caregivers who were dedicated to her care and comfort in the last months of her life, including the staff of Holland Lake Nursing Center and staff of Covenant Hospice and Palliative Care.
