— Rudolfo “Rudy” Avalos, 76, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service is aturday, Dec. 14, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Weatherford.

Born March 7, 1937 in Hot Springs, N.M., to Rito and Ramona Avalos, Rudy was one of six children. After serving the country in the Air Force, Rudy became an instrumentalist in the construction industry. A resident of Weatherford for the past 31 years, Rudy was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church and a Third Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking and was a football fan. He enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys. A self-proclaimed joker, Rudy enjoyed spending time with his wife, Olivia, and their blended family. 

He leaves behind his bride of 30 years, Olivia Avalos; daughters, Sonia Diaz and husband, Armando, Carmen Molinar, and Julie Hawkins and husband, Garon; sons, Rudolfo Avalos Jr. and wife, Janelle, Javier Avalos and wife, Sarah, and Ernest Martinez and wife, Kathy; his sister, Betty Apodaca; brothers, Benny Avalos and wife, Sally, Robert Avalos and wife, Nancy, Johnny Avalos and wife, Manuela, and Jerry Avalos and wife, Faith; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rito and Ramona; and his daughter, Norma Doyle.
