Nelly Jane Carter

Nelly Jane Carter, 78, of Weatherford, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, in Panama City, Fla.

Service is 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jane was born Dec. 7, 1934, in Parker County. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family and the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She married Leslie Carter on Aug. 17, 1952. She worked at J.C. Penny’s, Weatherford College and the Pythian Home before retiring.

Survivors include her children, Louis and Marcy Carter, Gail and Floyd Hull and Dianna Armstrong, all of Weatherford, and Allen and Laura Carter, of Mineral Wells; sisters, Dorothy Noe and Kathy and Glen Densmore; brothers, Wayne and Nell Thompson and Donald and Lois Thompson, all of Weatherford, Leslie and Trish Thompson, of Lubbock, and Darrell Armstrong, of Parker, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, Fern and Bill Cox, of Joshua, Revay and Rusty Bullock and Donice Nichols, all of Weatherford; 14 grandkids; 28 great-grandkids; and three great-great-grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 60 years, Leslie Carter; dad, Clarence Thompson; mother, Loree Butler; brothers, Roy Armstrong, Bob Armstrong and Edwin Armstrong; parents-in-law Leonard and Elda Carter; grandson, Edwin Carter, and an infant granddaughter.
