William Clyde (Slim) Edwards, 88, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, peacefully at his home in Weatherford with family by his side.
Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, and service will begin immediately after visitation.
Slim was born Feb. 7, 1925, in Monkstown, Texas, and died after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Bonnie Dewveall Edwards. The Edwards have five children: Judy and husband, Robert Walker, Elaine Anderson (deceased), Norman Edwards and wife, Lesli, Herbert Edwards and wife, Mandy, and Nathan Edwards. His grandchildren are Amanda Morgan and husband, Tommie, and their children Taylor, Jaclyn and Cooper; Kyle Anderson and his wife, Sheri, and their children Stephanie and Stetson; Truman Edwards, Stephanie Edwards, Tyler Edwards and wife, Janelle, and Scarlett Edwards.
Slim was the third of nine children born to Clyde and Eva Edwards and is survived by one brother, Max Edwards and wife, Linda, and sisters Betty Artis and June Westerholm.
Mr. Edwards is a World War II veteran who proudly served his country in the Navy. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone with 30 years of perfect attendance.
