Police: North Carolina woman hid meth in child's riding toy

STANFIELD, N.C. — A North Carolina woman was arrested on several drug charges after police say she hid an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine in her son’s riding toy.

Tammy Hollar, 31, was arrested Tuesday at the playground area of Pete Henkel Park in Stanfield. Her friend, 40-year-old Paula Love Smith, also faces charges.

According to Stanfield Police Chief Jimmy Schneider, Hollar’s 5-year-old son was playing nearby when the arrest took place. "A search was made of her and the Power Wheel car, and that's where some meth was found," Schneider said.

Schneider added that his department had been hearing complaints of “suspicious activity” at the park for nearly a month.

He estimated more than 100 people were at the park during the arrest, with games in progress on both ball fields and 10 to 15 children on the playground.

Hollar is charged with felony possession of methamphetamines with intent to sell and deliver, felony possession of methamphetamines with intent to sell and deliver within 1,000 feet of a public park, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of a Schedule II substance.

The Department of Social Services was contacted regarding Hollar's two children and is performing its own investigation, authorities said.
