Police rescue children while mother smokes pot

LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Two juvenile males were rescued while climbing out a third-floor window by police while their 25-year-old mother was smoking marijuana downstairs.

Teryn L. Hallatt faces two charges of endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful possession of marijuana.

According to a police report, authorities were called to investigate a report of a juvenile who had fallen out of a third story window. Upon arrival, police saw one male on top of the roof of the second floor, and a second male hanging out of a third story window.

Police knocked on the door, and Hallett let police inside. One child was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

According to the report, Hallett told police she had been smoking marijuana in the apartment during the time the child must have fallen out of the third floor window. She was held in lieu of $250 bail.
