I’m so frustrated we can not get above the politics of this and look at where this is going for all of us. I am sensitive to the social aspect that citizens of the most prosperous country in the world with the best medicine anywhere should have affordable access to that care. That should be the goal.
I am convinced now more than ever that government managing this part of our lives will not work, and it never can. Government can have a role in a number of other things, changing current law, providing incentives to markets and many other ideas.
It is time to stop this madness and rethink what we are doing. We need the best and brightest professional voices in many areas concerning health care leading the debate on solutions. These people are closer to us and actually deal with real life health problems. Our elected officials are not equipped to do that and we are literally putting our lives in the hands of temporarily elected representatives. It’s one thing to have health insurance.
It’s more important to get the health care you need, when you need it from the doctor you choose. At that point decisions made about your care should be between you, your family if need be, and your doctor. Elected or appointed people who simply have your number should have no say what so ever.
You may be fine with that. It does not work for me.
