LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Smoking ban removes a freedom of choice

Weatherford Democrat

— Dear Editor,

Some of my friends say there is a town that still allows freedom of choice. Wisdom from others say,

“If you see it in The Democrat it’s so.” Please tell me the truth – is there a still a town that allows freedom of choice?

Dear citizen,

Your friends are wrong. They have been affected by the wayward thinking of a world lacing direction. They believe that which they do not see. All minds, whether they be men’s or children’s, are little and are not capable of making their own decisions lest there be controversy.

In this great universe of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect as compared with the limitless government directing him. Their intellect not capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge set forth by our dutiful mayor.

No, there is no town of Liberty. Weatherford exists as certainly as devotion to our ruling government exists, and you know that the mayor is truly the one to give to your life its highest meaning and joy. Alas! How dreary the world would be if there was no government to dictate our daily decisions. It would be as dreary as if there were no Santa Claus. There would be poetry, romance and other frivolities to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in obedience to our leaders. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would certainly be extinguished should we be allowed to live a life with freedom of choice.

Not believe in dictatorship! You might as well not believe in life at all! So make sure you let Mayor Hooks know that you are thankful that he has decided to take away freedom of choice for Weatherford citizens. No smoking?! Next will be no Big Gulps! No regular-grade unleaded gas! No Big Macs and by all means know alcohol!
