Potential traffic hazard
I would like to ask the traffic engineers what they had in mind when they designed the southbound double lefthand turn off South Main Street onto College Park Drive.
Case in point: When drivers in lanes one and two cross onto College Park they could immediately enter into a game of hop-scotch in an effort to reach businesses on opposite sides of the street. The point is, unless you have decided ahead of time before the turn you could end up in a fix and cause an accident, or be guilty of holding up oncoming traffic behind you while waiting for clearance to cross over.
Hopefully local residents will soon learn that College Park Drive is now a double lane for traffic moving east. Maybe so, but that does not take into account those who may not be aware of the change and the problems it could cause. Certainly there are double lane traffic turns everywhere, but this highly commercial area poses a special problem and the double lane turn will surely increase the traffic flow.
I would hope someone in authority will take another look at this before accidents start to happen.
