WEATHERFORD — John Mutchler will be preaching his first sermon as new pastor of the Weatherford Seventh-day Adventist Church this Saturday. Sermon title will be: Take a Philistine to
Dinner, part one.
Pastor Mutchler comes to us with 18 years of full-time ministry, although he spent the earlier part of his career in the medical field as a teacher, researcher and administrator.
Following his 18 years of full-time ministry, Mutchler chose to be a bi-vocational minister to better understand the workplace of the community. Currently, he is a law enforcement administrator with the Department of Public Safety in Highland Park, Texas.
Pastor Mutchler’s focus, and the emphasis of his ministry is to present the saving grace of Jesus Christ in relevant and captivating ways that sets people wholly free from the ravages and bondages of sin, all this in the setting of the literal imminent return of Christ Jesus, the Lord.
Specifically, Mutchler hopes to guide and challenge his church family toward reaching out to the unchurched of the Weatherford community with the love of Jesus, seeking to know and understand their temporal and spiritual needs, all modeled after the ministry of Jesus; to meet people where they are, to love and accept them, and to support their needs, so that they will know that there is a God in heaven who loves them and desires a relationship with them, even such as if they were His only child upon this earth.
Pastor Mutchler received his BA from Andrews University at Berrien Springs, Mich., and his master’s from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Mutchler has a wife, Christina, a son John, and a daughter, Rachael, plus two grandchildren.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is located at 201 Eden Road in Weatherford. The main worship services are 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday mornings. The public is always cordially invited to drop in for worship services and/or to just get acquainted.
