FORT WORTH — The Weatherford Lady Roos softball team evened its District 4-5A record at 1-1 with a 9-1 victory over the Fort Worth Paschal Lady Panthers on Tuesday.
The Lady Roos’ bats came alive with eight hits and were helped along by seven Paschal errors.
“We put pressure on them,” said Weatherford head coach Phillip Beyer, referring to the aggressive base-running that forced many of the Paschal errors.
Hannah Schnebly had a solid, seven-inning pitching performance, notching 14 strikeouts and allowing only two hits.
The first hit Schnebly allowed, a first inning double by Paschal’s Stephanie Valero, drove in the only Lady Panther run. Valero was thrown out at second after starting toward third base to end the first inning.
Schnebly came out in the second inning and struck out the side.
“It feels rewarding for all my hard work,” Schnebly said of her 14 strikeout performance. “It feels good to even out our record in district.”
The Lady Roos now get ready for the Burleson Lady Elks, who come to town Friday with start time set for 5:30 p.m.
