Area six-man football playoffs net mixed results

The Willow Park Trinity Christian Academy Eagles defeated the Dallas Academy Bulldogs 58-28 in the first round of the TCAF Division I play-offs in a game played Friday, November 6, 2009 at Aledo Middle School.

The Eagles offense jumped out to an early lead scoring on its first three possessions as Jernigan scored or runs of runs of 1 and 43 yards coupled with a 65 strike from Pike to give the Eagles an 18-0 lead after the first period.

The Eagles defense was led by the senior Pike who recorded 17 tackles on the evening including three tackles for losses and a fumble recovery that he returned for 10 yards and a score.

The Eagles travel to the Abilene area to play defending state champion Midland Trinity Saturday, in the next round of the play-offs.

With the Mineral Wells Community Christian School win over Irving Faustina Academy. the Warriors move to the next playoff round. MWCC will meet up with District 2 champions, Fort Worth Glenview Christian School Cowboys.

FW Glenview is 9 - 1 coming off Round 1 Playoff win 76 to 19 over Joshua Christian.

Game time is set for Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Old ISD Stadium which is in downtown Aledo.

Weatherford Christian lost their first-round playoff game Saturday, 52-0 to Arlington St. Paul.

WCS finishes its season with a 2-2 district record, and 5-6 overall.Next year looks good for the Lions, who only lose two seniors, gaining 5 from its JH team, and any transfers we may get in.
