WHS wrestling kicks off first dual meet with tailgate event

Weatherford wrestling hits the mat with its inaugural dual confrontation on Tuesday, at the Ninth-grade Center. The Roos face off against Flower Mound Marcus at 6 p.m.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the boosters will sponsor a tailgating event, with pulled-pork BBQ sandwiches, chips and a drink as the featured fare. The community is invited to help WHS kick off the 2012-13 season.

 

Lady Coyotes complete hat trick at Tyler Classic tourney

Ranked fifth among junior colleges in the pre-season poll, the Weatherford College women’s basketball team won all three contests played at the annual Tyler Classic Thursday through Saturday.

Taking the first game of the tourney on Thursday by beating Jacksonville, 94-91, in a game down to the wire, the Lady Coyotes beat host Tyler JC on Friday in another high-scoring affair. WC outlasted the Apache Ladies, 96-91. In the Saturday game, the WC women won in yet a third squeaker, edging out Kilgore College, 76-75.

WC returns home on Thursday to host Western Texas in a non-conference game. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m., with the WC men’s game set to follow at around 7:30 p.m.
