— Young’s 3-hitter compliments bats

Staff Report

Andy Rogers 3-run homer capped off a productive first inning for the Weatherford Kangaroos in a District 3-5A contest at Paschal on Friday. The Roos kept adding runs throughout the contest to top the Panthers, 9-0.

Weatherford starter Will Young sent five Paschal batters back to the dugout with K’s, scattering three hits in the shutout.

Aledo takes care of Lady Chaps  in three

Staff Report

As has been a weekly habit for the Ladycats during the 2013 season, Aledo softball has again deprived itself of allotted innings by impressing the run-rule on its opponents.

It happened again on Friday, with Aledo dispatching Fort Worth’s O.D. Wyatt in three frames by a 15-0 count. Scoring a half dozen in the first, the Ladycats repeated the feat in the second, with pitcher Tori Gore and the defense holding the Lady Chaps scoreless in the first two stanzas.

Wyatt did not help its cause, committing six errors amid the Aledo offensive onslaught. The Ladycats scored the final three runs in the top of the third and Wyatt failed to answer, ending the game with the necessary 15-run advantage by the end of the third.

Aledo piled up 17 hits, with the entire lineup hitting safely in the game. Gore helped herself to the win in the circle by providing offense as well. The junior hit 2-for-3, scored three runs and added another run with an RBI.

Catcher Allie Ramsey and shortstop Kayden Kirkpatrick hits for extra bases, with doubles, and Rhylie Makawe continues to help her slugging percentage, hitting a solo home run.

Aledo improves to 12-0 in District 7-4A with the win, and will close out its district slate this week, hosting Granbury on Tuesday, with the regular-season finale at Arlington Heights. Aledo will clinch sole ownership of the district crown by beating the Lady Pirates.
