The Porcupines, who are in the relatively small District 6-3A, will close out pre-district play on Monday, traveling to play at Krum. On Friday, the Lake Worth Bullfrogs will visit Porcupine gym for the district tipoff, slated for a 8 p.m. start.
Lady Roos improve district mark with win over Arlington
A dominate second quarter made the difference for the WHS girls in Arlington on Friday, as they picked up another win, 50-36, improving to 2-3 in District 3-5A play.
Trailing by one entering the second period, Weatherford went on a 14-5 second-quarter run and extended the lead over the two remaining stanzas. Faith Woodring led the offensive charge for the Lady Roos with 13 points. Kaelin Davis and Maddie Dorris were close behind, scoring 11.
Weatherford will try to even its district mark on Tuesday when it meets up with Paschal in Fort Worth.
Aledo crushes Lady Raiders
Aledo guard Alyssa Dry went on a shooting spree Friday in Fort Worth, wearing out the net with 38 points as the Ladycats notched a 81-20 blowout over Southwest.
The damage started early, with a 22-4 beginning to the District 7-4A match. Aledo held Southwest to a single basket in the third quarter in a game which saw 10 Ladycats put up scoring numbers. Justis Sczcepanski-Beavers put up 13 points in the contest.
Aledo (5-0 in district) returns to home court on Tuesday, hosting Granbury (4-1) at 6 p.m.
Lady Porcupines suffer tough opener at hands of Kennedale
Springtown found itself in a 30-point hole at the end of the first half on Friday, as Kennedale showed up with offensive guns blazing in a District 6-3A opener. Though making a better contest in the second half, the damage had been done for Pojo, en rout to a 71-35 beating.
Two Ladykats shooters topped 20-point nights with McKinley Bostad and Jasmyn Poe lighting up the scoreboard with 27 and 21 points, respectively. Pojo could only counter with Becca Dauenhauer’s team-high 10 points.
The competition level should drop considerably after Kennedale, and the Lady Porcs will try to even their district mark at Castleberry on Tuesday in a 8 p.m. match.
