Lady Jackets outlast WHS girls in five-set non-district match

The Lady Roos traded momemtum shifts for the maximum number of games on Tuesday before falling short in the fifth game to visiting Cleburne.

Playing without a key player who was injured during warm-ups, Weatherford still made a contest, pulling out a close win in the fourth game to force a tie-breaker. The final set was close as well, with the Lady Jackets prevailing, 25-17, 19-25, 14-25, 25-23, 13-15.

Sarah Schwartz and Emma Murphy led the Lady Roos with 10 kills each, with Cooper Mullins added six kills and 16 assists. Hannah Schwartz served up six aces and had 15 assists. Defensively, Hannah Wright had 40 digs.

The Weatherford varisty heads south on Thursday, making its annual appearance at the San Marcos Varsity Tournament. The tourney lasts through Saturday.
