WC baseball continues streak
The Weatherford College baseball team extended its winning streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep of the Texas Wesleyan University JV Thursday, 12-4 and 12-1.
WC (19-16) put up 11 runs in the first three innings of game one. Lubbock Cooper freshman Scotland Church went 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored and one RBI.
In game two, Chaz Fowler kept Wesleyan off the basepaths with eight strikeouts, four hits, one earned run and no walks in six innings. Shane Crawford had two extra base hits for the Coyotes, tripling in the second inning, doubling in the third and singling in the sixth.
WC’s winning streak began with a sweep of conference rival Vernon College March 22 and continued with two more wins against Northeast Texas in Mt. Pleasant March 25.
Weatherford returns to conference play Wednesday, April 2 against North Central Texas College. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. at Roger Williams Ballpark.
