The fifth-year senior had five tackles, with two of those for losses. Lewis-Moore had 1.5 sacks, forced a fumble and was instrumental in a late goal-line stand as the Irish bested USC on Saturday, 22-13.
In Kapron’s first two seasons at Notre Dame, the program played .500 ball during the regular season, missing out on a bowl appearance in 2009. But the fortunes began to change over the next two campaigns, as the Irish put a pair of 8-5 seasons back-to-back.
The 6-4, 306-pound May graduate has turned mentor to younger ball players and has been a higher-profile team leader since being named one of the team captains back in August.
Notre Dame will likely face either Alabama or Georgia in the BCS game, which will be played in Miami on Jan. 7, 2013 at Sun Life Stadium. Ranked second and third, respectively, the Alabama-Georgia matchup will decide the SEC champion, and Notre Dames’ next opponent, on Saturday.
