Bowden, Makawe incite Aledo offensive rush past Western Hills
The Aledo Ladycats continued their efficient assault on the District 7-4A schedule on Friday, recording yet another abbreviated game cut short by the mercy rule.
Steady scoring from the second inning through the fifth allowed the Ladycats to get home before dinner got cold, as they beat Western Hills, 10-0.
With pitcher Lauren Craine in the circle, the Aledo defense logged yet another shutout, its seventh in a row in the district schedule. Craine 2-hit the Lady Cougars while striking out a half dozen Hills hitters.
Haylee Bowden and Rhylie Makawe led the offensive fireworks for Aledo. Bowden went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, adding a walk to reach base safely a fourth time, and drove in a pair of runs. Makawe also had two RBIs on a triple she stroked in the fourth inning.
Aledo improves to 8-0 in district play and will rest up during the first part of the week before playing back-to-back days on Thursday and Friday this week, meeting Fort Worth teams Trimble Tech and Southwest, respectively. Both games are 7 p.m. starts.
