Lady Roos’ slow starts translate to district loss against North Crowley

Staff Report

Falling behind early in each of its sets to the Lady Panthers on Friday, the Weatherford varsity found itself fighting back from early deficits that were ultimately too big to overcome.

After being down 7-17 to begin the first game, the Lady Roos fought back only to lose the opening tilt, 23-25. Similar results followed, with the WHS girls losing the match, 23-25, 20-25, 18-25.

Emma Murphy led the Lady Roos with 10 kills, while Hannah Wright had 16 digs. Weatherford will travel to play Paschal on Tuesday, in a 6:30 p.m. start.

Ladycats sweeping through district slate

Staff Report

For a second-straight year, the Aledo Ladycats are sweeping through District 7-4A ... quite literally.

The AHS girls’ most recent conquest came Friday, as they played the minimum number of sets to beat the Arlington Heights Lady Jackets, 25-13, 25-11, 25-13. The successful match concludes a three-game road stint for the Ladycats.

Improving to a 5-0 district record, Aledo has dispatched all of its opponents in three sets and are tallying an average game score of 25-12.
