Area-state high school football results

(Continued)

The Lions put up the lone score of the opening quarter, following up with 19 second-quarter points en route to a 38-13 win in a six-man football contest.

Wheeling spread his 140 yards passing to five different Lions receivers. WCS used a balanced attack in the win over the Angels, as its runners combined for 159 yards rushing, led by sophomore Cooper Bomar, who finished the night with 110 yards on 19 carries.

Slated for a bye this week, the Lions hit the road on the following week, traveling to take on Arlington’s St. Paul’s Prep on Oct. 18.

  • Summer athletic camps — July/August

    Staff Report

Summer athletic camps become a bit more “meaningful” in the late days of July and into  August, at least for some high school and middle school athletes.

In most cases, the youth football camps include grades 6 through 8, and though there is no contact involved, some of the instructors of he camp may be getting a preview of the talent coming their way in just a few short weeks.

Team volleyball camps, stretching from grades 4 through 12, provides a segway for many of the campers who will soon be entering workouts for the impending volleyball season.
