Aledo volleyball bounces back

After dropping its first district contest — in a very long time — the Aledo Ladycats bounced back into the win column with a vengeance on Friday. 

The Ladycats improved their District 7-4A mark to 8-1, beating O.D. Wyatt’s Lady Chaparrals 25-2, 25-9, 25-6.

Aledo has a three-game home stand over the next week and a half, hosting Trimble Tech, Western Hills and Arlington Heights. The Tech match is Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m.

 

Springtown wins over Kennedale in showdown No. 1

The Lady Porcupines are 5-0 at the halfway point of the District 6-3A schedule, thanks to a 3-1 favorable set count against Kennedale on Friday. Springtown beat the Lady Wildcats, 25-14, 25-20, 17-25, 25-16, and take sole possession of first place in the district standings.

Shelbi Meek paced the Springtown win, serving 10 aces, knocking down 13 kills, with 18 assists and a half-dozen digs.

Springtown hosts Diamond Hill on Tuesday.
