Game notes: The Lions deploy a potent running game as the base of its offense, but will mix in a modest dose of high-percentage passes from the arm of QB Tyler Ellis which can produce substantial gains per toss. Similar to Millsap, Blooming Grove puts stock in a methodical, ball-control offense that can have trouble when falling behind early and forced to the air.

Senior running backs Tyler Morris and Travis Whiteside are the most effective tandem for the Lions, and have combined for 1,500 rushing yards for Grove.

The Lions, with Rice and Life Oak Cliff, are still in the running for the final slot for postseason eligibility, and will be playing in a game with rewards if they win, clinching the fourth seed.

The Millsap offense has most assuredly been more productive with the ball in 2013, but are still settling into the slot-T, to make the scheme more second-nature. A group of seniors helping to install the new scheme, led by OL/DL Tre’ Newberry would like to leave the underclassmen with a good note to build on for the future.
