National warm-up meet nets Mach I medalists

WEATHERFORD —

The Weatherford-based Mach I Track Club sent approximately 20 of its members to a USA Track & Field meet over the weekend, with a pair of its athletes collecting medals.

The national meet held at the University of Texas at Arlington, featured youth from across the country, and served as a warm up to state meets to be run next week. Qualifiers from the state meets will get the opportunity to compete at the USA Track & Field Youth National Championships, to be held in Baltimore, MD.

Elliott Lancaster took two medals from the UTA meet, finishing fourth in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump.

Amelia Ingram, competing in the 1500-meter run, brought home a sixth-place medal.

Mach I heads to the Texas Tech oval next week to compete in the state meet.
