Area cross country news - Heading to regionals

Cross country district meets held last week yielded various levels  of success for area varsity teams and individual runners. Regional qualifiers will head to their respective meets on Saturday.

District 9-2A

The District 9-2A Cross Country meet was held in Alvord.

The Brock varsity boys won the team title by one point, marking the fifth-consecutive year to win  the district title, and advancing to the regional meet. Aaron Farris ran fourth overall, with Dillon Cox running fifth. Sheldon Mowery took 10th, with Aaron Gassner   at 15th place and Dustin Cox at the 16th spot. The Brock girls finished fourth  as a team, narrowly missing a  chance to qualify for regionals.

Millsap’s varsity girls put in a strong effort at the district meet, placing second in the team standings, just three points behind district winner Paradise High School. The second-place finish  qualifies the Lady Bulldogs’ team for the regional meet on Saturday.

Senior Haley Younger crossed the finish line ahead of the field, winning the overall individual district championship. Senior Mikelyn Kruger placed second in the meet, with freshman Sydney Herbel completing triad with a third-place finish.

The Millsap varsity boys have a pair of representatives who will run at regionals. Senior Bobby Nolen placed second overall in the meet, while junior Jaxon Martin also finishing strong in sixth place.

The Peaster boys team took the second-place trophy while also reserving a team slot at the Region II meet.
