— Lady Coyote conference win streak hits 10

CISCO – The Weatherford College women’s basketball team beat Cisco College 75-62 Wednesday night, improving to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

The win was WC’s tenth in a row in North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play going back to last year, when the Lady Coyotes finished the regular season with eight conference wins in a row and their second straight league title.

Returning All-American Itiana Taylor had a big night in Cisco, scoring 24 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and adding 6 assists.

The Lady Coyotes and Coyotes return home to the Betty Jo Crumm Graber Athletic Center Saturday, Jan. 18 against Ranger College. Games times are 2 p.m. for the women and 4 p.m. for the men.

Aledo boys run to district title

The Bearcat Cross Country team was named District Champions in 7-4A for the second year in a row, while  the Ladycats qualified for regionals, finishing in third place. 

The boys All-District First Team included Bearcats Colby Caldwell, Oaklin Davis, Michael Meadows and Dylan Witkowski. Harrison Tillman and Kyle Gribble were named to the All-District Second Team, and Ryan Howell was Honorable Mention.

The girls All-District First Team included Ladycats Treva Davis and Gillian Law. On the Second Team were Jarrah Schlosberg and Amy Larson. Honorable Mention included Leonie Duarte, Becky Owens and Sophia Sonnemann.

Named to the Cross Country Academic All-State team were Ryan Howell (Elite), Dylan Witkowski (First Team) and Teresa McGee (Honorable Mention).
