The past few weeks have heralded the conclusion of the regular season for numerous spring competitions, but the seasons are far from over.
Prep golf, tennis and track & field have entered the area and regional phases of contention and virtually all county schools still have plenty of student-athletes in the mix, who will see the level of competition strengthen each week.
Softball and baseball are seeing their respective district seasons come to a close as well, but with the usual, formidable number of schools celebrating senior night and closing out regular-season schedules to prepare for life in bracket play.
Scheduling often becomes an art form during the week, or weeks, when district track meets and tournaments are being held, particularly for the smaller schools whose athletes are prone to be multi-sport participants.
Submittals to celebrate success tend to be more frequent this particular time of the sports year. Coaches, athletic directors, other school officials and, let’s not forget those parents — send facts, figures and photos, providing a boon of recognition for local kids who have made contributions to their teams and excelled individually.
For the balance of this week, the plethora of activities and subsequent accomplishments will be showcased for the area kids who have been so busy this spring.
