— Seemingly headed to another one-sided affair after beating Frenship's Lady Tigers 13-0 in the first game of a Class 4A Region I Semifinal best-of-three series, Aledo scored a pair of runs in the first, and followed with another pair in both the fourth and fifth frames.
But Frenship, facing elimination, fought back to cut the Ladycats' lead in half in the bottom of the fifth. The Lady Tigers also added a run each in the final two frames, but could not finish the comeback, as Aledo won the game, 6-5.
Aledo's Megan Mason spearheaded the offense with four hits. Allie Arneson had a pair of RBIs. Tori Gore started in the circle for Aledo and blanked the Lady Tigers through four innings. Lauren Craine entered in relief in the sixth to help hold off the Frenship Rally.
With the series win, Aledo advances to the Region I final. As of Saturday evening, no score had been reported in the second game of the Azle-Canyon series, though Azle won the first game, 18-0.
