WEATHERFORD —

TCA Press Release

WILLOW Park – Trinity Christian Academy’s Athletic Booster Club recently hosted its annual athletic banquet to honor outstanding high school student athletes at TCA.

Numerous team titles were won in the past year, including state championships in boys’ cross country and boys’ track. Junior high and varsity volleyball teams fared well, with both junior high volleyball teams winning district championships and the varsity volleyball squad finishing fourth in the state tournament.

TCA football remains on the rise, reaching the state semifinals. Basketball season brought more recognition with district championships for three junior high teams and a state tournament final-four appearance for the varsity girls’ team.

Spring sports were successful as well, with a third place finish for the varsity baseball team and a top four finish for varsity softball at the state tournament. TCA fielded a large tennis team, earning an overall third-place finish at the state tournament. Boys’ singles, girls doubles and mixed doubles produced state championships. Varsity Track continued TCA’s winning spring, with a state championship for the boys and a third-place finish for the girls.

Each year the TCA Athletic Booster Club awards a $1,000 Soaring Eagle Scholarship to the top senior athletes. The 2014 Soaring Eagle Scholarship winners are Braxton Aldridge and Elise Houston.

In addition to the student awards and scholarships, a long-time TCA coach was honored during the evening. TCA Alumnus of the Class of 2009 Michael Sapp returned to present a special award to Coach David Atkinson. Atkinson has worn numerous hats at TCA, as coach, statistician, fan and parent of a TCA alumnus. He is one of TCA’s biggest supporters.
