The Weatherford College women’s basketball team defeated McLennan Community College, 99-78 on Wednesday night, placing the two teams in a tie for first place in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC).
WC (12-3 overall, 5-1 in NTJCAC play), relied on another big night from the All-American duo of Itiana Taylor and Bre Brooks, as Taylor scored 24 points and Brooks had 23. Taylor is leading the conference in scoring with 22.8 points per game, while Brooks is second with 18.
The WC men lost to MCC, 74-66. Tonko Vuko led the Coyotes (8-12, 1-4) with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
The McLennan men lead the conference with a 5-0 record.
WC will play at home again Saturday afternoon against Southwestern Christian College. The women tip-off at 2 p.m., the men at 4 p.m. at the Betty Jo Crumm Graber Athletic Center.
Also on Saturday, the WC Basketball Booster Club will host a player reunion during the games.
Former players will each receive a throwback Coyote T-shirt and be recognized during the planned festivities.
