Former Weatherford pitcher adding milestones at UL/L

Weatherford High graduate Jordan Wallace introduced herself to NCAA softball in her freshman year on the national stage. The pitcher for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette broke the freshman consecutive-win record last season when she recorded 21 straight victories, eventually setting the new mark at 23 decisions.

The UL/L sophomore is at it again, setting a new Ragin’ Cajuns school record for strikeouts in a seven-inning contest. Wallace fanned 18 batters in a shutout win over Sun Belt Conference foe Middle Tennessee. She struck out the side in five of the seven frames.

For the feat, and a few other highlights over the past couple of weeks, Wallace was named the SBC’s Pitcher of the Week for two consecutive weeks. During the period, the former Lady Roo went 4-0, with a 0.00 earned-run average. During the two-week period, Wallace racked up  37 Ks, allowing just five hits.

As a freshman, Jordan earned the weekly top pitcher award four times and finished with a 27-2 season record. She currently holds a 19-6 overall mark this season.

The Rajin’ Cajuns currently sport a 30-11 overall record and are just a game and a half from the top spot in conference play with more than 10 games left in the season.
