Bell takes Midway job

After 11 years as the head of Brock’s boys basketball program, Jeff Bell has accepted the head coaching position at Midway High School, part of a school district located near Waco, according to news sources. 

The Midway ISD school board approved Bell’s hiring, Tuesday evening. Bell will begin his tenure at Midway on April 22. Midway resides in the University Interscholastic League’s 5A classification. 

Brock Athletic Director Scott Drillette confirmed on Wednesday Brock ISD  had posted the position and the position was open for applicants.

At Brock, Bell led the Eagles to two state titles, in 2002 and 2003, and has an overall career record of 688-228. Brock advanced to the state tournament in Class 2A the past two years, falling short of the title both times.

Prior to taking his position at Brock, Bell also coached at Smithville, Liberty Hill, Taylor and Lampasas.
