Lady Roo V-ball headed to tourney circuit soon

Staff Report

With the arrival of August, so too marks the arrival of prep volleyball and the familiar sounds from a court-full of hitters, setters and defensive diggers.

Weatherford head volleyball coach Natalie Gonzales (nee Wayman) has been putting the Lady Roos through drills in two-a-day practices and the girls will soon get a major dose of pre-district game play with the advent of an active tournament schedule.

The coach proclaims the only surprises thus far in the practices have been good ones, with a few of her younger players showing a significant growth in skills since last season.

In her second year at the helm, Gonzales hopes to lead the Lady Roos to postseason play in the 2013 campaign after falling short last season in District 3-5A.

Below is the combined schedule for the varsity, JV and freshman teams.
