Summer athletic camps

Staff Report

Weatherford ISD and Brock ISD boast the only (known) non-football camp slated for this week in Parker County. Weatherford accommodates bow-and-arrow mavens with an archery camp running Monday through Friday. Brock’s tennis boot camp welcomes incoming grades 7th through 12th, and will run through Thursday.

But if the gridiron is where the kids want to camp, there are plenty of opportunities, with Weatherford, Aledo and Brock closing out the summer athletic camps on the football field. Weatherford and Aledo hold their respective sessions this week, while Brock will host its camp next week, geared for grades seven and eight.

  • Summer athletic camps — July/August

    Staff Report

Summer athletic camps become a bit more “meaningful” in the late days of July and into  August, at least for some high school and middle school athletes.

In most cases, the youth football camps include grades 6 through 8, and though there is no contact involved, some of the instructors of he camp may be getting a preview of the talent coming their way in just a few short weeks.

Team volleyball camps, stretching from grades 4 through 12, provides a segway for many of the campers who will soon be entering workouts for the impending volleyball season.
