Area sports schedule — Week of March 25

Baseball and softball games will be “Thursday-heavy” this week to work around Friday’s school holiday, but there will yet be assorted fare at the end of the week. Roo Track teams will compete in the Rough Rider Invitational to be hosted at Saginaw High School on Friday, while  Weatherford varsity baseball will squeeze in a non-district match, hosting Granbury in between a couple of away district dates. 

Varsity soccer district play wraps up for Weatherford on Tuesday. The girls have a shot at a postseason berth if they can beat Arlington Sam Houston, but will need help from Fort Worth Paschal to execute an upset over Arlington Lamar. In Class 4A, Aledo’s soccer teams, both finishing respective slates as district champs, begin Region I bi-district play. The Ladycats travel to play Lake Dallas at their home field with a 7:30 p.m. start, while the boys will play a foe from District 8 not yet available at press time at Northwest ISD Stadium. The boys’ first kick is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

With area Class 2A tennis will conducting its 2-day district meet on Tuesday and Wednesday, baseball and softball games for those schools will be played Monday.

Weatherford at Arlington Sam Houston - 7:30 p.m.

Aledo at Lake Dallas (Bi-District) - 7 p.m.

 

Varsity Tennis

Brock at District Tournament/Brock-  8 a.m.

Peaster at District Tournament/Brock-  8 a.m.

    That coaches will move on, due to advancement of career, life changes or a myriad of other influences, is a given. Aledo is not immune to the turnover, but is year-in and year-out apt to experience very modest changes, due to another myriad of positive factors.

    “I just love the running,” Tharp said.
