Coyote baseball team clinches fourth straight postseason berth

The Weatherford College baseball team finished the regular season strong, winning five of its last six North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) games to clinch a berth in the 2013 Region V Tournament. 

WC (32-23) swept Cisco College in its final four games, capped off by two road wins Saturday, 8-6 and 4-2, slipping in to the postseason tourney with a No. 4 seed. 

The Coyotes will open the Region V Tournament at Quick Trip Park in Grand Prairie on Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m., opponent to be determined.

There were five lead changes in Saturday’s first game, which went 11 innings. Eric Garcia scored on a wild pitch to give the Coyotes the lead in the top of the 11th. Weatherford High School graduate Collin Sefcik went three-for-six at the plate, including two RBIs and a run scored.

Sefcik collected another three hits in game two, a 4-2 victory.  Pitcher Skyler Wheeler had five strikeouts allowed two earned runs, five hits and no walks to earn the win.

2013 marks the fourth consecutive year in which WC has qualified for the postseason.
