Weatherford linksters capture fourth at district tournament
The Weatherford varsity boys’ golf team finished in fourth place at the District 3-5A golf tournament held on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Woodhaven Country Club in Fort Worth. The team finished one stroke behind the third-place finishers.
Evan Sosebee and Hunter Dennis led the Roos linksters, and were named First Team and Second Team All-District, respectively.
WC’s Landon Williams wins Men’s All-Around at Snyder event
SNYDER, Tex. – Weatherford College’s Landon Williams won the Men’s All-Around Title at the Western Texas College Rodeo April 4-6.
Williams, a sophomore from Midland, teamed up with WC alumnus Cadee Tew to finish second in the average in team roping, which accounted for 120 points. He added another 20 points with a sixth place finish in tie-down roping to claim the All-Around buckle. Tew, now a Tarleton State University competitor, moved to the top spot in the Southwest Region standings for team roping and Williams moved to the second spot.
Weatherford High School graduate Colton Rundell won the first round in steer wrestling and finished eighth overall.
WC goat tyer Savannah Todd continues to battle for a berth in the College National Finals Rodeo. A pair of 7.5 second runs placed her fourth in both rounds and third overall in average, moving her up to fifth place in the Southwest Region standings.
Marlys McGuire won fifth in the first round of breakaway roping and finished ninth overall.

Mach I Track Club gears up for 2013 season with open tryouts
Entering its 24th year, the Weatherford-based Mach I Youth Track Club (originating as the Weatherford Track Club) will hold tryouts and registrations over the next two weeks.
The tryouts, for all area and Parker County youths ages 9 through 18, will be held at the Shirley Hall Middle School track, located at 902 Charles Street (between Charles Street and South Bowie Drive), in Weatherford. Tryouts/registrations will last from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on April 15, 16 and 18 next week, and again the following week on April 22, 23 and 25.
Official team workouts for the track club will begin on Monday, May 6, with each workout scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Workouts will also be held at Hall Middle School. The season runs well into the summer.
