Two-years running, winning for Rattan, Peaster girls

Staff Report

An apt illustration of the success of Peaster’s 8th-grade track & field team is 100-meter sprinter Sarah Grace Rattan.

In two years of junior high competition, including the recent district meet held in Ponder, Rattan, who also competes with success in the long jump and all of the sprint relays, has yet to lose a 100M finals race.

The Lady Greyhounds’ 8th-grade track team dominated the district meet, scoring 186 team points, forty points above their winning total from last year, as seventh graders.

The girls’ middle-school track coach is Ed Daugherty, a mentor at Peaster ISD for several years. Sarah Grace, who also runs summer track with Weatherford’s Mach I Track Club, is part of a core of Peaster girls’ athletes who have competed together in multiple sports since ages four and five.
