Lady Coyotes clinch third straight conference title

WACO – For the third consecutive season, the Weatherford College Lady Coyotes are North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) champions.

WC defeated McLennan 90-84 on Saturday to clinch the conference title. It is WC’s sixth in the past eight years.  

Zippy Khasoa led WC with 20 points and 9 rebounds while Itiana Taylor added 15 points and 17 rebounds.

Bob McKinley’s Lady Coyotes (19-3 overall, 11-1 conference) will be the number one NTJCAC seed in the Region 5 Tournament March 5-8 at Lubbock Christian University. WC will face the number four seed from the Western Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. The current four seed in the WJCAC is Midland College.

The WC men lost at MCC Saturday, 71-55.  McLennan is the conference leader at 9-2 in the NTJCAC.

The Coyotes (5-6) remain tied for the fourth and final playoff spot with Temple and Southwestern Christian.

Both teams play their regular season finales in Terrell Wednesday night against Southwestern Christian.
