EASTLAND/CISCO — The Class 1A Division I Region II quarterfinal match between Poolville and Stamford did not let an electrical malfunction stop an energized match between the two teams on Tuesday. But the Monarchs had the final burst of juice, as they topped Stamford, 60-57, in a game that began in Eastland and ended up in Cisco.

The match was moved a few miles west of Eastland when banks of gym lighting, and the scoreboard, lost power with a couple minutes to go in the first half.

In a back-and forth battle, Poolville outlasted the Bulldogs to win down the stretch. The Monarchs play the winner of the Trenton/Muenster match on Friday, at Abilene Christian University.

Editor’s note: In Class 2A action Tuesday, Brock’s scoring spurts in the second and fourth quarter kept them distanced from Whitesboro in a Region II quarterfinal match played at Chisholm Trail High School. Brock earned a trip to the regional tournament with a 72-62 win over the Bearcats. The Eagles play the winner of the Life Oak Cliff/Life Red Oak game at Tarleton State University on Friday. The semifinal  match begins at 8 p.m.
