Staff Report

The Weatherford College women’s basketball team put the finishing touches on its 2013-14 North Texas Junior College Athletic Association (NTJCAC) title season on Wednesday, beating Southwestern Christian Community College, 79-42. The Lady Coyotes finish with a 12-1 conference mark.

Itiana Taylor and Zippy Khasoa ruled the basket, as well as the boards, in the one-sided match. Taylor grabbed 14 rebounds while scoring 15 points. Khasoa led the scoring for WC, draining 17 points and picking up 10 rebounds.

The WC men took a loss in their final game of the season, losing to SWCC, 113-71. With Mark Osina back at the helm for the 2013-14 campaign, the Coyotes (5-7 in NTJCAC play) are a much-improved team over last season, and a brighter future ahead.

The WC women, the top seed from the NTJCAC, will begin Region V Tournament play at Lubbock Christian University next week. The first round will pit WC against Midland College.
