Since the age of five, softball has always been a passion for Weatherford High School’s Tawnye Bramlett.

Throughout the years, her drive and determination paid off, as the Lady Roo senior signed a letter-of-intent to play softball and attend Hill College in Hillsboro last week.

“I played a little basketball and football over the years too, but softball was the main focus, and playing it at the college level was always my goal,” Bramlett said.

The senior said the campus, as well as the team and the coaches, were the primary reason she chose the ride to Hillsboro.

“I looked at probably 10 schools and I was looking for something close and something small,” she said. “My plan is to play at the junior college level and get my classes before moving on to a bigger school.”

Hill College participates in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference, which is a member of the NJCAA Region V. The Hill Lady Rebels are currently 17-15 overall this season, with a 5-5 conference record.

While at Hill, the Weatherford third baseman plans to study pre-med and eventually become a chiropractor.

With her future a little more certain, Bramlett said she now has time to relax and put her full focus into her last season as a Lady Roo.

“It’s been an amazing career here and we want to go all the way,” she said. “Our offense is hot, our defense is hot, we’ve got everything working for us.”
