Area sports schedule — Week of April 8

—

Staff Report

Baseball and softball district schedules continue for area teams this week, and very significant events also are the district blitz of golf and tennis tournaments, as well as track & field district meets — a very busy, and varied, week for spring sports fare.

Most of the latter mentions are 2-day affairs, beginning on Monday and ‘running’ through Thursday. And not all are consecutive days, with Class 2A Millsap, Peaster and Brock  playing their district rounds of golf on Monday and Wednesday and at different venues.

But the champion of extended tourneys, in a quirky bit of scheduling — Springtown, who played its first round of District 6-3A golf on March 25 at Arlington’s Shady Valley, completes the second round on Monday, this time at the Garden Glen Golf Club in Fort Worth.

Weatherford track aficionados will not have to travel far for the District 3-5A meet this season, as the events will be held in and around Kangaroo Stadium. All of Parker County’s prep schools will be competing in their respective district meets this week.
