Lady Roos edge North Crowley in close match
WHS pitcher Darrian Ross scattered 13 hits and enjoyed timely defense behind her on Tuesday, as Weatherford scored in the bottom of the seventh to avoid extra innings in a 3-2 win over the Lady Panthers of North Crowley.
Ross helped her own cause at the plate, as well, hitting 3-for-3, while notching both a run scored and an RBI with a home run blast in the fifth inning. Lauren Leach also had a muti-hit game and scored a run, and Meredith Dickey’s double produced the winning run.
Ross, and the Lady Roos defense held North Crowley to a single run in the top of the seventh. despite loaded bases and just one out.
The Lady Roos, 11-1 in District play, travel to Arlington Lamar’s Workman Field on Friday to meet the Lady Vikes. Game time is at 6 p.m.
Ladycats send South Hills home early with 16-1 win
A handful of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning produced a walk-off win over error-prone South Hills at Ladycats Field on Tuesday, as Aledo sent another opponent packing before the end of regulation.
A single run in the first gave way to eight more in the second, with the Ladycats setting the tone early in a 16-1 victory.
Rhylie Makawe continues to punish opposing pitching, as she went 3-for-4, including a double. Makawe crossed the plate three times and had a pair of RBIs. Kori Kizer had two hits, a double and a triple, driving in three runs for the Ladycats. Outfielder Mary Myers also hit a triple and was responsible for four Aledo runs.
The Ladycats, atop District 7-4A with an 11-0 mark, play at O.D. Wyatt in Fort Worth on Friday, at 7 p.m.
