After a successful career as a Weatherford Kangaroo, Hayden Davis will be taking his football skills to the next level, signing a national letter of intent to play for Malone University this fall during a Wednesday morning ceremony.
Malone is a NCAA Division II school, located in Canton, Ohio.
Flocked by family members, Davis signed his letter of intent with his dad, Cory Kennedy and mom, Wendi Davis-Kennedy by his side.
The move will allow Davis, an offensive lineman for the Roos, to be close to his dad, who works for Chesapeake Energy there. Davis insists, however, his dad had no influence on his decision to make the 1,500-mile move north.
“It was my call all the way,” Davis said. “When I had made the visit to Malone, I was actually considering going to Northwestern College in Iowa.”
Davis said he liked the program, coaches and players during his visit, which made him consider Malone. Having the opportunity to play at a bigger school in a bigger city was also an incentive. He said he made the decision about two weeks ago. While on his visit, Malone coaches asked if he had ever done any snapping, possibly looking to move him to a center spot.
Davis is unsure about his major, wanting to keep his options open his freshman year. He said he is considering being a business administration major with a concentration in marketing or possibly political science.
