Lady Kangaroos breeze through Senior Night with win over Sam

Weatherford Democrat

Weatherford senior Darrian Ross stepped in the circle for the Lady Roos on Tuesday, as WHS closed out its District 3-5A schedule on Senior Night at Lady Roos Field. It would be a short night for the senior pitcher, with the Weatherford offense blasting Lady Texans pitching for a 17-0 win.

Facing the Arlington Sam Houston hitters, Ross allowed just a single hit in three innings, striking out three and facing just one batter over the 3-frame minimum. She also helped her cause while at the plate, drawing a walk and hitting an RBI double.

Weatherford needed just two at bats to invoke the mercy rule, scoring 11 runs in its opening frame and crossing the plate six more times in the second. Third baseman Tawnye Bramlett had the first big blast of the initial stanza, doubling home two runs to begin the route.

The Lady Roos close out their district schedule with a 13-1 record, losing only to Arlington Martin, who will share the title with a win over Arlington Bowie.

The Lady Roos will begin postseason play on Apr. 30, with the first round match to be set against a District 4-5A opponent. The site and time are to be determined.
